Waste Removal & Disposal

The information on this page is about the clean up and disposal of anything damaged by the fires.  Before you do anything the recommendation is to check what documentation might be required for assessment or satisfying eligibility for help.  At a minimum the advice is to take comprehensive photos and videos before demolition, removal.

Clean up help for damaged property

  • You might be covered for the demolition and removal of structures and hazardous materials, including asbestos.  Information and registration forms here:  Victorian Government Clean Up Program.  The program is currently for structures (homes & businesses) for primary residents who are uninsured or underinsured.  If you're not sure whether you're eligible, Council advises to register and you'll be on file if the eligibility changes.

Poly Water Tanks & Pipes

  • Poly tanks and pipes can be disposed of for free (with proof of residence) at the Euroa Transfer Station.

  • A recycling program is being put in place that will cut up tanks and pipes.  To register your interest and provide information to program organisers (Jase the Waste), fill out the form via this QR code.

Removing & Disposal of Damaged Fencing

  • We're not currently aware of any programs or funding to clear trees off fences or remove and dispose of fencing.  We have seen some activity on VicRoads boundary fences and are finding out more.

  • If the fencing has been damaged by emergency services while firefighting, you can apply for it to be repaired / replaced (including removal).  Information and application forms here on the Forest Fire Management (FFMVic) Recovery After An Emergency webpage.  NOTE: that you have to apply to access this - they will then visit you to confirm the damage and details.  They are in Gooram now so it's a good time to apply and be assessed.

  • This application form also includes remediation ('smudging') of fire control lines (aka 'containment lines' or 'firebreaks).  Note it doesn't include re-seeding.

  • BlazeAid is helping with removing, repairing and rebuilding fencing.  Regardless of your insurance status, they may be able to help.
